Lamont's Laments "Karma"
"Karma"

Life is good!

I was told earlier this week that when you do ugly, ugly gets done to you. Well I guess I’m doing pretty. The last two weeks have been a blast, and I really have nothing to Lament about this week. Now I could get into the whole Bush vs China thing, but you all know that’s too easy. Massachusetts was one of the best trips (vacations) Ive ever been on. I honestly did not want to come back to Colorado, and had thoughts about having my things shipped there and freeload off of Malice, Beth, Ivo, Leah, Mack, and Alina until I get a job. Actually, that still sounds like a good idea.

Mal picked me up from the airport and we headed to Smith College. We had to stay there (all girls school, and I didn’t complain), because her apartment wasn’t ready yet. During the drive we joked about the flight, discussed conceiving the 124ian Love Child, and listened to one of her radio shows. I mention this because it set the mood for the entire weekend. On her radio show, she played that week’s “old school jam” which was none other than Pete Rock and CL Smooth’s “Straighten It Out”. If I was an emotional person, I would have shed tears. After eating and listening to Malice snore for the rest of the morning (thanks Mal), we headed to her place of employment. Now the average person would have been bored to death. But Mal works in a vinyl store. And I spent $80 on vinyl. I also had the pleasure of meeting Micheal Grant, who operates a non-profit organization that teaches youth how to run a business (Dance Studio, Recording Studio, Film Company, etc). He will be featured on the Devias website shortly.

I wont go into further details about the trip, all I can say is that I haven’t laughed so much in long time. We didn’t “do” much, but the best parts of the trip were the conversations/debates on any and everything. Most of the time we were talking about music, and I really didn’t have a problem with that. For the most part, this trip enhanced my desire to get the hell out of Colorado. Next month: Atlanta……Morrison, Omar (RZA can do no wrong), Miechia, and Joshua. And Bridget if she can make the trip.

Just like my nephew sits with milk on the side of his mouth, pissed off because grandma took his picture, I feel like I can conquer the world. Like I can walk into the middle of a bank robbery and not get shot. I’m even more arrogant than usual. This week, I’ve managed to get on Andrea’s last nerve, and pissed off someone I was supposed to have sex with because I didn’t show up….didn’t feel like driving. Yes, things are back to normal. Im also excited about the RENAISSANCE. “The Dominant Factor” is currently the strongest single, but Im expecting either “Peace of Mind” (thanks Miss Rose) or “Jazzesoul” to take it before the EP is complete. If you want to check out the first draft of the art work, goto www.devias.8m.net and check it out. Much love and thanks to Kitanya for allowing me to take her son’s photo. Much thanks to Moe for being so cooperative (kids love the 124). I also need to give respects to Nicole for looking into the camera when I specifically told her not to. You’re an idiot, Nicole. But I have a picture of you when you opened the door, and another one of you when you first woke up. For a small fee I won’t put them in next weeks Lamonts Laments.

Note: I cant take “Video” seriously because it reminds me of “Put In In Your Mouth”. Im really feeling Mystic, Aislinn agrees that Res is the sh&$ (although she thinks Im bitter…..Im not bitter I just don’t trust women), and Musiq has a couple of gems. Right now Im waiting on Bilal LP though. Sole’ (yes, Sole’) has a hot club track out right now as well.

Current rotation: Big L, the Beatnuts, Outkast (so fresh), Reflection Eternal and Amel Larrieux

Peace Y’all.
